Agate Stone Crafts
Nature paints every agate in rings of colour, layer by layer, over thousands of years. Indian artisans then cut, shape and polish the stone until those rings glow — turning raw rock into coasters, bowls, bookends and décor that no machine could ever repeat.
THE STONE
What Makes Agate So Special?
Agate is a banded form of chalcedony — a fine-grained variety of quartz. It forms when silica-rich water seeps into cavities in volcanic rock and slowly deposits layer upon layer of mineral. Each layer can carry a slightly different colour, which is why a cut agate reveals its famous rings, bands and eyes.
Agate is also hard and durable, which makes it ideal for pieces that are handled every day, such as coasters, trays and bowls. Because every stone grows differently, every finished piece is truly one of a kind.

Raw stones are sorted by colour, banding and clarity before any cut is made.

Diamond-edged saws cut the stone to reveal its inner rings.

Finer and finer abrasives bring the surface to a glass-like lustre.

Natural Variation & Care
- Colour, banding and size vary from stone to stone — this is the mark of a genuine natural material.
- Small natural crystal pockets or lines are part of the stone's character, not defects.
- Wipe with a soft, damp cloth; avoid harsh chemicals and abrasive scrubbers.
- Agate is hard but not unbreakable — avoid dropping it onto hard floors.
- Sets can be colour-matched as closely as nature allows for retail and gifting orders.
